What does truly sustainable living look like? One couple investigates…on bicycles

The revolution might not be tweeted, but it sure can help sometimes.

Mandy and Ryan, the creators of the documentary Within Reach, got rid of their cars and house in order to “bike-pack” around the U.S. with a tent.  On their 6,500 mile trip, they visited 100 sustainable communities, asking the questions: Can we all live this way? And, if so, what might it look like?

Now, they need funding to help finish their movie and get it out on DVD by Earth Day, 2011. (That’s April 22, for those of you who don’t have it in your planner yet.)  They’re asking for $25,000 via Kickstarter, a website that helps creative projects get off the ground.  With each level of donating, you receive a reward, from a personalized postcard ($1.00) to a stay at one of the featured communities ($5,000) and Executive Producer credits ($10,000).  They’re already 20% of the way there as of writing this, with a deadline of December 25, 2010.  But, they still need help.  How?  Donate now (a great holiday gift) or take 1 minute and share their project with 10 friends.  Or do both!

Their story is inspiring and their message is one of hope and community.  Check out their latest trailer, below.
