FOUR YEARS. GO. and other international conservationist organizations including Green SURF, 350.org and Wiser Earth are calling on the Malaysian government to abort the construction of a coal-fired power plant in Lahad Datu, Malaysia.

GO. and other international conservationist organizations including Green SURF, 350.org and Wiser Earth are calling on the Malaysian government to abort the construction of a coal-fired power plant in Lahad Datu, Malaysia. The organizations praised Malaysia’s commitments to curb down carbon emission up to 40% by 2020 and efforts to implement cleaner energy alternatives. They also noted that Malaysia was still leaning towards fossil fuel to generate power. Among activists that wrote to the Malaysian government were Julia Butterfly Hill from America and John Seed, the founder of Rainforest Information Centre from Autralia. World Land Trust, Women’s Earth Alliance, SOS Borneo and portal mongabay.com also shared their concerning voices.
